About PHC:Message from the Board Chair
Dear Friend,
PHC Board Chair Nancy Eaton
After 28 years, Joseph Kelly's service to PHC ended December 31, 2011.
Joe has a great passion for the humanities and for Pennsylvania. He came to PHC in 1983 as a program officer. He became Executive Director in 1994. Joe organized many statewide projects over the years, spanning the bicentennial of the Constitution and the sesquicentennial of the Civil War. An advocate for the humanities nationally, he chaired the Legislative Committee of the Federation of State Humanities Councils. I hope that you join me in thanking Joe for his many years of service and wish him well.
As PHC board chair, I am happy to say that PHC remains committed to our mission and our programs. The valuable work that we do best—inspiring individuals to enjoy and share a life of learning—will continue.
As we turn to 2012, Pennsylvanians can look forward to a new Speakers' roster of scholars, artists and storytellers who will share powerful ideas and compelling stories. Episodes from our award-winning television show, Humanities on the Road, will be offered. Libraries from Allegheny, Delaware and Lancaster Counties will begin piloting the second year of Teen Reading Lounge. Please join us at future PHC programs.
Nancy L. Eaton
