Teen Reading LoungeParticipation

In 2012-13, PHC is partnering with eight libraries in Allegheny County as part of an endeavor to work with county library leaders to make a regional impact. Participating are the Hazelwood, Carrick, Allegheny, Beechview and Brookline branches of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, as well as North Versailles Public Library, Coraopolis Memorial Library and Community Library of Allegheny Valley-Harrison. The TRL programs will run from February through May 2013. The project officially started in early January with a special orientation for libraries which was held on the University of Pittsburgh's campus.

This round of TRL marks a collaboration between the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the Allegheny County Library Association, Allegheny Intermediate Unit, Pennsylvania Library Association's PA Forward advocacy initiative, Pennsylvania Library Association Academy of Leadership Studies (PALS) and the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project. During this round, PHC will be working with participating libraries, advisers and partners to pursue ways to make TRL accessible to all public libraries by developing materials that will allow libraries to run the program independently. In the meantime, interested libraries are free to download the current program materials. Libraries that would like to collaborate with PHC on a regional, county-wide effort around TRL should get in touch with PHC.
